Rancho Santa Fe, California |
Rancho Santa Fe Real Estate
Have you ever wanted to live in one of America's richest villages? According to Forbes magazine, the prestigious zip code of 92067 is ranked number two in the nation on the 2006 list of the most expensive places to live in America. Rancho Santa Fe, located inland about four miles from the Pacific Ocean and north of downtown San Diego about 20 miles, offers some of the countries most luxurious estates surrounded by eucalyptus trees atop rolling hillsides, green pastures divided by rural winding roads, and groves of citrus trees.
On approximately 6,200 acres, the exclusive real estate market of Rancho Santa Fe has been carefully guarded for 75 years by a very strict set of Protective Covenants, to ensure only the highest quality of home building in the nation. This town is predominantly ranch style homes with strong Spanish and Mediterranean characteristics. The average minimum parcel of real estate in Rancho Santa Fe is two to four acres; however, some do exceed 30 acres. There are about 2000 real estate parcels in the community, with very few added each year. Rancho Santa Fe does also offer quaint townhomes in the village, but remember the medium average home price according to local statistics was 1.7 million in the last year!
Rancho Santa Fe derives its name from the Santa Fe Railway Company and is surrounded by eucalyptus groves due to the railways belief that the trees could be harvested to produce railroad ties in the early 1900s. However, it was later found that the trees were unsuitable for this purpose due to their soft nature. Hence the beautiful landscape overflowing with eucalyptus trees and ranches, which was one of California's first planned communities by the Santa Fe Land Improvement Company. The company believed they could gain back their investment by developing the real estate market into what is today some of the highest priced real estate in the country. |

 | The State of California, understanding the importance of the Rancho Santa Fe community named it a State Historic Landmark in 1989. A total of nine buildings and homes have been given the prestigious placement on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Rancho Santa Fe community boasts of many outdoor recreational facilities including a world-class 18-hole golf course. The pristine course was newly renovated in 2002 and redesigned by David Fleming. Rumor has it you might find yourself on the course with Phil Mickelson, one of many well known residents. The 13,000 square foot clubhouse received a makeover in 1995 and can accommodate a number of venues.
Rancho Santa Fe also offers, exclusively to its residents, a Tennis Club for champions with 12 courts, two being soft. There are 26 miles of trails, equestrian centers, athletic fields and more. The beautiful downtown area also offers many amenities including restaurants, shopping, local business establishments, a library and a school. With all these features, the lifestyle and real estate market in the Rancho Santa Fe community are for those persons only seeking the best that life has to offer.
